LibriVox is a non-profit website that produces public domain audiobooks and makes them freely available for download. The site was founded in 2005 by Hugh McGuire, who at the time was collaborating with other people online in making an audiobook of Joseph Conrad's Secret Agent.1 Volunteers read public domain books and release the digital audio recordings of chapters into the public domain.2 Audiobooks are hosted by, and are accessible via the website's catalog and podcast feed.
