Things to look for:
Long sentences (keep a few, if they read smoothly)
Passive voice (okay, unless there’s any alternative)
Prepositional phrases (subbing for possessives, adjectives, or better
nouns)
Me/I rather than You
Wishy-washy intros (e.g. I think, I believe, Most people)
Complex words where simple one would do
Simple words where a complex one would be stronger
Adverbs covering for weak verbs
Moralising (e.g. Don’t forget, Never, Avoid, Don’t, Must)
Long, scary paragraphs
Opportunities for adding white space
Anything that would work better as a bullet list
